Mubadala Health Dubai’s Memory Clinic

Early answers to support better understanding and protect long-term brain health.

Noticing changes in memory, concentration, or behavior can feel worrying, whether for you or someone close to you. Even small changes can raise questions, especially when memory plays such an important role in how we navigate everyday life.

Memory shapes how we stay connected to the people around us, manage our responsibilities, and hold on to the experiences that make us define who we are. When something begins to feel different, seeking clarity early can help you understand what is happening and what support may be helpful moving forward.

At Mubadala Health Dubai’s Memory Clinic, we provide specialist assessment for early cognitive concerns, including Alzheimer’s disease and other causes of memory decline. Led by the renowned Dr. Mohammad Ghatali, Consultant Neurologist, our trusted clinic offers a structured, coordinated pathway designed to give clarity, reassurance, and guidance on what comes next.

So, when is the right time to consider a Memory Assessment?

While it’s natural for memory to change slightly over time, when changes begin to feel noticeable, persistent, or start affecting your daily life, it’s always helpful to seek the opinion and evaluation of a professional.

You’ll likely benefit from a memory assessment if you or someone close to you notices:

  • Increasing forgetfulness
  • Repeating questions more often than usual
  • Difficulty concentrating or following conversations
  • Changes in personality or mood
  • Trouble managing everyday tasks or finances
  • Concerns raised by family members
  • Cognitive changes affecting work or social activities

A point of reassurance: seeking assessment early doesn’t always mean a serious condition is present. In many cases, it provides reassurance, identifies reversible causes, and helps you take practical steps to protect your long-term brain health.

What you can expect at our Memory Clinic

Your assessment at the Memory Clinic is designed to be thorough, supportive, and tailored to your individual concerns. We take the time to understand not only what you are experiencing, but how these changes may be affecting your daily life and overall wellbeing.

During your consultation, your specialist will focus on:

  • Reviewing your medical history and cognitive symptoms in detail
  • Understanding how changes in memory or thinking are affecting everyday activities
  • Carrying out structured cognitive assessments
  • Evaluating neurological health
  • Identifying medical or lifestyle factors that may influence brain function

This comprehensive approach helps us build a clear picture of your cognitive health. In many cases, it allows us to identify possible causes early and guide you toward the most appropriate next steps with confidence and clarity.

Advanced Diagnostic Testing

In some cases, your specialist may recommend additional tests to better understand the cause of memory changes and provide greater diagnostic clarity. These investigations help build a more complete picture of brain health and support more personalized care decisions.

The advanced Alzheimer’s Blood Test

Through the worldclass M42 network, our patients have exclusive access to advanced biomarker testing performed by M42’s National Reference Laboratory (NRL).

This blood test can detect biological changes associated with Alzheimer’s disease, sometimes before symptoms become more pronounced. It may be recommended when further insight is needed following your clinical assessment, helping guide earlier and more informed care planning.

Brain Imaging

When appropriate, imaging studies can provide additional information and insight about your unique brain structure and function:

  • MRI brain scans assess structural changes and establish a baseline for monitoring over time
  • PET scans (available through our partner facilities) support functional brain imaging and amyloid evaluation

Your specialist will explain whether these investigations are necessary and guide you through the most suitable next steps for you.

Why does early detection matter?

Conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders often begin developing decades before symptoms become obvious. Identifying changes early allows you and your care team to better understand what is happening and take meaningful, impactful steps forward with confidence.

Early evaluation supports:

  • A more accurate and timely diagnosis
  • Earlier access to treatment where appropriate
  • Lifestyle and medical risk factor management
  • Eligibility for emerging therapies
  • Better planning for the future
  • Reassurance when results are normal

For many people, the greatest benefit of early assessment is clarity. Understanding what’s happening – and what isn’t – can reduce uncertainty and help you make informed decisions about your health and wellbeing

If no major concern is detected…

Your assessment can help rule out neurological conditions and identify other factors that may be influencing cognitive function. That’s because not all changes in memory or concentration are caused by dementia or progressive neurological conditions. In many cases, they are linked to factors that can be treated or improved with the right care, expertise, and support.

These include:

  • Stress or anxiety
  • Sleep disturbances
  • Hormonal changes
  • Metabolic conditions such as thyroid imbalance or diabetes
  • Vitamin deficiencies
  • Medication effects

A structured assessment helps identify whether symptoms reflect normal age-related changes, temporary health factors, or something that requires closer monitoring. For many people, this process brings reassurance and a clearer understanding of how to support and protect their cognitive health moving forward.

What happens after your Memory Assessment and what support is available?

Depending on your assessment results, your specialist will develop a personalized care plan tailored to your needs and level of risk.

This includes:

  • Ongoing cognitive monitoring over time
  • Lifestyle strategies to support brain health
  • Medical treatment where appropriate
  • Access to disease-modifying therapies for selected patients, including anti-amyloid monoclonal antibody treatments

These newer therapies are designed to target amyloid pathology associated with Alzheimer’s disease and have shown promising results and potential in slowing cognitive decline in selected individuals at early stages of the condition.

Wherever you may be in your cognitive health journey, our dedicated team remains committed to supporting you with clear guidance, continuity of care, and long-term partnership.
