Dr. Michael Gunter Klein

Biography

Dr. Michael Gunter Klein is a highly experienced Consultant Gastroenterologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology across Germany and the United Arab Emirates. He is internationally trained and widely recognized for his advanced diagnostic expertise, particularly in functional gastroenterology and intestinal ultrasound, offering patients a comprehensive “one-stop” diagnostic approach.

Dr. Klein obtained his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Philipps-University Marburg, Germany, followed by specialist training in Internal Medicine at Caritas Hospital Bad Mergentheim, an academic teaching hospital of the University of Heidelberg, Germany. He completed his advanced Gastroenterology training at Berlin-Buch Hospital, Charité – University Medicine Berlin, one of Europe’s leading academic medical institutions.
His academic work includes an MD thesis on pH-metry in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and gastrinoma. Dr. Klein later served as Head of the Gastroenterology Department in Hamburg, where he was responsible for teaching registrars and fellows advanced endoscopy procedures, abdominal and intestinal ultrasound, endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), and interventional techniques. He has authored multiple publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Before joining Mubadala Health Dubai, Dr. Klein was the Co-Founder of a private Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology clinic in Hamburg, Germany. He later practiced in Dubai as a Consultant in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at HealthBay. Dr. Klein currently continues his clinical practice in Hamburg, where he leads a private Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology clinic.

In addition, Dr. Klein played a pivotal role in the planning and establishment of a day-care surgery center for endoscopy procedures in Dubai. He was also among the first physicians in the region to introduce intestinal bowel ultrasound examinations for both adults and children.

At Mubadala Health Dubai, Dr. Klein focuses on the diagnosis and management of acute and chronic gastrointestinal diseases, with expertise in functional gastroenterology, IBS, gut health, and advanced microbiome testing, alongside real-time abdominal and bowel ultrasound performed during the consultation.
