Dr. Asif Ahmad

Dr. Asif Ahmad is an experienced Consultant Anesthesiologist and healthcare leader with extensive clinical and operational experience across the United Kingdom and the UAE. As Head of Anesthesia, Surgery, and Perioperative Services, he provides leadership across the surgical patient journey, with a focus on safe, efficient, patient-centered care and the continued development of high-quality perioperative services and peri-operative pathways.
Prior to moving to the UAE, Dr. Ahmad served as a Consultant in Anesthesia at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom. During his 20-year career in the UK, he also held roles as a GMC Associate and Medical Examiner. He completed his specialist training in anesthesia through the Mersey and Wales Deaneries and was awarded his Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Anesthesia in 2013.

Dr. Ahmad has a particular interest in day-case surgery and enhanced recovery pathways. He led the development and implementation of day-case surgical programs, including joint replacement and ACL reconstruction at Heatherwood Hospital in the UK and also improved fractured neck of femur care at Frimley Health NHS Trust, UK, achieving significant outcomes during his role as Trauma Lead & Fractured NOF Lead in the organization.
His clinical expertise includes general and regional anesthesia, ultrasound-guided regional anesthesia, perioperative medicine, pre-assessment, enhanced recovery after surgery, and anesthesia for adult and pediatric patients.

A Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Dr. Ahmad combines clinical expertise with a strong interest in service development, healthcare leadership and education. Dr Ahmad is also the Co-founder of Berkshire Grove Hospital (UK), a GMC Associate and examiner and an Alumni of Saïd Business School , Oxford University. He is also a member of the British Association of Day-Surgery and is one of the co-authors of The Handbook of Red Flags in Medicine, 2nd edition.  He has also served roles in education and training as an educational supervisor, medical appraiser and Ultrasound guided regional anesthesia trainer.

Dr. Ahmad holds an MBBS from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University in India, Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists (FRCA), London and a CCT in Anesthesia from UK.
