Our Women’s Health clinic provides discussion and education on sexual health, cervical screening, and advice for unexplained bleeding.
Cervical screening, also called a pap smear, is a test that checks the health of the cervix. This test involves taking a sample of cells from the cervix and checking for abnormal cell changes. If any abnormal cells are found, our clinicians will then give you advice on the next steps to prevent these cells from developing into cancer.
A smear test also looks for human papillomavirus (HPV), a very common virus that can cause cervical cells to change and become abnormal.
Current guidance suggests pap smears should be done every 2-3 years; if you have a history of abnormal pap smears or have HPV, then cervical screening should be more frequent.
Regular cervical screening is important and one of the best ways to protect yourself from cervical cancer. Book yours today.
